Home team: Hub City Spartanburgers, South Atlantic League (2025-present)

The Texas Rangers announced in November 2023 that they would relocate one of their affiliates from Kinston, N.C., to Spartanburg for the 2025 season. The new team is going to be referred to as the Hub City Spartanburgers. The name references Spartanburg’s location as a railroad line hub and also echoes the name of a college summer league team of recent seasons that simply called itself the Spartanburgers.
Major League Baseball announced in July 2024 that the team will transfer from the Low-A Carolina League to the High-A South Atlantic League to become a natural rival of the Greenville Drive, 35 miles to the southwest along I-85. A rivalry may also develop with the Asheville Tourists, who play about 60 miles to the northwest following I-26.
