After retiring 6 men in a row, Zetelski ran into trouble in the 3rd when Springs erupted for 4 runs. Jackie, Tom Brown and Greg Penridge all got solid hits. Zetelski showed he was a competitor to stem Springs bats the rest of the way.
Sifford’s chopped away with 1 run in their half of the inning and one more in the 4th to make it 4-2.
Sifford’s came out swinging in the 5th when Wilke, McMaster and Paddock put it together to tie the score. This set the stage for the frantic 6th when Tom Brown walked the first 2 batters. The other half of the Brown act came in to relieve. Jackie loaded the bases and set it up for Greg McMaster’s game winning hit.
Mike Lonergan, Greg McMaster and Ron Wilke all had 2 hits for Sifford’s. Pete Cohen made a strong throw from center field to cut down the go ahead run in the bottom of the 4th with Mike Lonergan blocking the plate beautifully.
