In the opening game Flash Cleaners shocked the heavily favored Elks by ekeing out a 4 to 3 victory. Mike Sheridan went all the way for Flash and though in trouble several times, pitched his way out. Steve Donofrio pitched for Elks and showed plenty of smoke but did not have his usual sharp control. DiGregorio drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a slashing hit down the alley off relief pitcher Dave Palasits.
