Despite a three-run lead and a four-hitter served up by Eugene Cole, Pastore went down before Rotary, 4-3, last Monday in an extra-inning game played with first place at stake.

The tight tussle, a tough loss for Cole, was decided in the seventh inning when Frank Pollara walked, stole two bases, and scored on Cole’s balk.

Pastore got off with three first-inning runs on singles by the Cole brothers, Al and Eugene, and Ron Haugh’s home run.

Rotary got one back in the second on Leonard Baylor’s single and a pair of infield errors, and tied it in the following frame on a walk and singles by Billy Hands and Pollara.

Pollara, who relieved Billy Tantum in the fourth with the bases loaded, got credit for the important win.
