On Thursday evening, the Lions continued their drive toward second place and a .500 season record as they topped the first place Elks 8-5.
The Elks led off the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first on Johnny Vanderveer’s triple, his brother Tom’s single, and a three-base error in the outfield.
But five walks and Dave Lambie’s double gave the Lions four runs and a lead they never lost in the top of the second frame.
