The Elks took a hard-won 6-5 contest from the Lions.
The Elks overcame a 4-0 deficit to take their game. The Lions scored three in the second on three walks, John Sondey’s single and an error and added another in the next inning on two walks, an error and a single by Dave Lambie. Three walks, two singles and Luongo’s homer enabled the Elks to tie it in the bottom of the third.
The Lions went ahead again on Ray Reardon’s single and Al Stone’s double, but the Elks at once tied it on singles by Tommy Vanderveer and Jimmy Carovillano around an error.
The winning run came in the last of the fifth when Phil Place doubled and scored on a pair of infield plays.
