A one-hitter lost by the Legion’s Allen Wilcox and Bob Dziadosz, 1-0, to Al Stone and the Lions featured Friday’s action. In addition to serving up a three-hitter on his own hook, Stone scored the game’s only run.

The Legion threatened in the top of the second when Dziadosz walked, Stew Kievet got on via an error and Wilcox singled to load the bases with none out, but Stone bore down to retire the next three batters on strikes.

The game’s only score came in the bottom of the inning. Stone walked. Following two strikeouts, Huptick also walked. Dave Kuncken then singled, scoring Stone. When Wilcox walked Ken Pickerelli to load them up, Dziadosz relieved and struck the next batter out. He struck out the side in the fourth.

In the top of the sixth, Bob smacked out a leadoff double and stole third. With the tying run a single base from home, Stone struck out two batters and got the next man on a pop-up to end one of the American League’s best-played games.
