After four seasons in which Rutherford Little League operated the Rutherford Recreation Department softball program on a trial basis, the League and the Recreation Department reached a firm agreement prior to the 2015 season. The League is now the agent for all youth baseball (ages 5-12) and youth softball (ages 5-14), including coordination of travel programs.
During the season, league president Walt Mager was beset with a series of ongoing medical issues that would eventually claim his life. After 25 years of service, including 21 as president, he died Thursday 14-May. The board of directors elected Tommy Prince, the son of former league president and district administrator Tom Prince, to complete the unexpired term.
Three baseball teams and one softball team capture district tournament titles. Banners are awarded to the 12U, 11U, and 9U baseball teams as well as the 12U softball team. In all, the League wins a record 41 tournament games.
